Naked Man Attacks Teen In Macy’s Dressing Room

(CBS) BRONX A 16-year-old girl received a major scare after a naked intruder tried to assault her while in a department store dressing room.
Ashley Sims was trying on a dress inside a dressing room in the Herald Square Macy’s department store on Sunday afternoon when a 60-year-old naked man burst through the door, trying to attack her. Sims say she fought him off before running for help.
“He slide in about half-way, grabbed my neck and tried to pull me down,” Sims told CBS 2. “So I bashed him with the door, hitting the door on his body about three times.”
The dazed suspect was quickly apprehended as he tried to get dressed and flee, and police have identified him as Dennis Green, who has served prison time during the 1990s for attempted robbery and parole violations in Brooklyn. Authorities believe Green was hiding in an adjacent dressing room that was apparently filled with cigarette butts and other pieces of garbage.
“It was ridiculous and traumatizing and I really didn’t want to come out of my house too much,” Sims said.
Sims and her family are now questioning whether there is enough security inside the store’s dressing room. They believe the attacker came through a door that should have been coded and locked up at all time.
“I just think it was horrible because if it was in another department, someone more helpless could have been attacked,” Sims said.
Elina Kazan, a spokeswoman for Macy’s, said the store regrets the incident and has launched an investigation. “Our store personnel’s immediate response and their detainment of the individual while the NYPD was notified led to the quick arrest of the suspect by the NYPD within minutes of the incident,” she said. “In response to this incident, we have increased the frequency of our standard, random monitoring of the fitting rooms by same gender personnel.”
Green is still in police custody on Rikers Island is due back in court on Friday. He’s being charged with burglary and attempted sexual abuse.
