Police: Man Flies From Calif. To Meet Teen For Sex
Suspect Arrested At Akron Canton Airport
CANTON, Ohio — A California man is in a Stark County jail after police said he flew thousands of miles to have sex with a girl who turned out to be an undercover officer.
Police arrested Mark Peter Billey Friday night at the Akron Canton Airport.
Investigators said he came to northeast Ohio to meet a girl he thought was 14 years old, with whom he had been chatting online since January.
Detectives fear that there may be real victims out there.
“We looked at his profile and it had 28,000 hits on it, which means this is an individual who is out there spending a tremendous amount of time looking to have sex with underage kids,” said Detective Bobby Grizzard of the Massillon Police Department.
Billey has been charged with importuning and attempted sex with a minor. Federal charges are expected later this week.

They have been chatting since January and he just now flew to meet her. I hate pedophiles, but you really need to wonder how much persuasion and and innuendo this officer used. He should not have been there at all, but there need to be some limits and conditions put on this type of entrapment before it gets out of hand. This is the fad of the moment though and it will only get worse and sensationalized more.

If you really think the officer had to use persuasion and innuendo to lure this predator, then it is obvious you have never entered a chatroom or gameroom under the profile of a teenage girl. At what point does it become a child’s fault that an adult decides to do them harm? Give me a break and look up the definition of “entrapment”.
Law officers know better than to initiate these conversations, and have no reason to. The real challenge is trying to sort through the steady stream of sick messages to pick out the predators who seem most dangerous.
Pedophilia is the oldest “fad” I’ve heard of, since it’s been around from the beginning of written history. The internet has only made it easier to lure their victims; and I only hope that your denial doesn’t cause someone you love to be victimized.

entrapment…r u daft…maybe if they initiated the conversation and then bought him the plane tickets…other then that i don’t see it r u in a mystical fantasy land

I don’t believe that entrapment is an issue. IF he waited 4 months, why not wait a couple of years more until she is legal. If there is a legitimate relationship to be had with the minor, it can wait until she/he is an adult.

It’s only entrapment when the police to induce someone to commit crimes that they wouldn’t do otherwise be inclined to do, usually you got to show a lot of duress being placed.
